Homeopathic Remedies & Heal Thyself by Edward Bach

Can you comment on homeopathic remedies in general, and on the Bach Flower Remedies in particular?

Hilarion: The nature of the homeopathic response to illness and disease is a unique one. It seeks to combat illness through the administration of small quantities of a substance which, if taken in large dosages by a healthy individual, would produce the very symptoms which characterize that illness.

Little is understood about the mechanism by which the homeopathic remedies have their effect. The secret is simple to understand, however, when it is realized that the homeopathic materials function not at the physical level, but at the aetheric level. Because they operate aetherically-and primarily on the aetheric body-and because reactions at the aetheric level are in general the reverse of those at the physical level, the aetheric counterpart of the administered homeopathic remedy acts as a cure for the aetheric body, the latter eventually transmitting the improvement to the physical form.

In regard to the Bach Remedies we should mention first of all that the discoverer and developer of these potions was a very advanced soul from a higher plane who volunteered to come to the earth in order to give this concept to humanity. His writings and in particular, his beautiful book, Heal Thyself, should be read and carefully meditated on. In no other booklet now extant is there contained such a precise and beautiful explanation of the reason for diseases of all kinds.

As to the nature of the Bach Remedies themselves, it will be clear to all of those who have tried them that in many cases there is great help available from these. The efficacy arises at the aetheric level, but in a special process. The Bach Remedies act first and foremost on the mental body which is not identical with the aetheric (though they are strongly inter-connected). The remedies, thus have a powerful influence on the general mental attitudes, and it is for this reason that they are used so extensively to correct "mental body" flaws such as fear and loss of hope.

However, there are many diseases which afflict the physical body and which have their origin in some imbalance at the mental place level. These afflictions can therefore be alleviated through the Remedies, which act first to correct the mental body, and then the physical body.
