Is there a way to make deuterium depleted water at home?
Hilarion: There are several techniques that are being studied at the physical and the non-physical level. None of which appear to be easy enough to be done at home at this point. There are some that may at some point in the future be disseminated in such a way that the deuterium levels on your planet could rapidly be reduced in water and utilized for production of huge amounts of energy to make the changes as necessary. But, these are not the sort of things you want to mess around with at home yet, as there are many potential dangers.
Still though, it is an excellent question because that is exactly the thrust where this would be headed in the future: that everyone could be powering their cars, their home heating, their cell phones perhaps with deuterium in some form or another. Imagine a AA battery with the power of an entire nuclear plant and you get an idea what is possible once this is better understood. But, also there are dangers involved. So, maybe you wouldn’t want to do it at home. But, in the meantime the answer to this question in its simplicity is, “no.” Home deuterium separation is not possible at this time.
